Class Types:

Beginners’ classes (Wednesdays): No prior yoga experience is necessary.

Syllabus: The class consists of work on learning the foundation asanas (yoga postures). This would also be the ideal class to renew your yoga practise after a long break.

Level 1 (Mondays): Ideally you will have completed the five-week beginners’ course.

Syllabus: Teaching and development of the basic standing asanas (yoga postures).

Level 2 (Thursdays): Prerequisite is to have a minimum 1 year’s Iyengar yoga experience or the consent of the teacher.

Syllabus: Progression of Level 1 asanas; headstand and shoulderstand are also introduced in this class.

Courses for specific needs (Saturdays) such as pregnancy or relaxation:

These classes are held periodically through the year and consist of five-week sessions. Please contact us to enquire about next start date and focus for the course.

A few points to note before coming to class:

Your Health: Please let the teacher know before class if you have any medical conditions or injuries, are menstruating or have any other matters that may affect your practice. It is important for us to ensure that you practice postures which encourage the correct positioning of the skeletal body and optimise your overall health.

Clothing: You don't need anything fancy; something comfortable such as a T-shirt or singlet with shorts or tights is fine. Ideally, we need to be able to see your ankles and feet during your practise so flare-bottom long pants are not recommended.

Bare feet are needed to grip the mat in some poses so socks are not recommended during your practise.

Remember: It’s best to practise on an empty stomach, so try not to eat at least 2 hours before class. The hall is air conditioned and comfortable all year around.
